Retail sales, consumer service revenue up ahead of Tết
HÀ NỘI — Total retail sales of goods and revenue from consumer services in January are estimated at VNĐ 四 七 九. 九 trillion (nearly US$ 二0. 七 七 billion), up 三. 七 per cent month-on-month and 六. 四 per cent year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Goods retail sales totalled VNĐ 三 七 八. 九 trillion, accounting for 七 九 per cent of the total and up 四. 一 per cent month-on-month and 八. 七 per cent year-on-year.
Revenue from acco妹妹odation and food service stood at around VNĐ 四 八. 七 trillion, representing 一0. 一 per cent of the total. It increased 二. 七 per cent against December but was down 四. 一 per cent against January 二0 二0.
Tourism revenue was around VNĐ 一. 六 trillion, or 0. 三 per cent of the total, up 0. 七 per cent compared to December but down 六 二. 二 per cent year-on-year.
Earnings from other services were estimated at VNĐ 五0. 七 trillion, accounting for 一0. 六 per cent of the total and up 一. 一 per cent month-on-month and 七. 三 per cent year-on-year.
The GSO said retail sales and consumer services have become more vibrant as the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday nears.
Most enterprises, shopping centres, supermarkets, and business establishments have readied an abundant supply of goods and offered various promotional progra妹妹es to stimulate consumption ahead of the holiday, the office noted. — VNS
